Activist Proposal

As a member of Designed by Grace Gospel Choir, which is branched off of the Multicultural Center at USI, our main goal is to show how people can come together as one body no matter the race, age, or gender.

Our spring concert is coming up in April and I made it a personal goal for myself to invite people other than family and friends. The main purpose of this group is mixing up cultures and backgrounds, so thats exactly what I plan to do. Of course I'll send invites to close family and friends, but my top priority is extending an invitation to those that I don't normally assosciate with. Who knows, this could draw attention to the choir and possibly gain us a couple new members!

I guess what I'm really trying to do is use this function as kind of a meet-n-greet type of thing. You never know who could be a blessing in your life, people come out of nowhere but could have a big impact on you!

  1. Tihs sounds great! I enjoy listening to Gospel music, and I've heard your choir before. But, how do you plan to use this as your Public Sphere? Are you going to pass out any infomation? I suggest that for your Public Sphere, you pass out something that's "catchy" I saw some fliers put up in various places about your concert, but are you only going to pass stuff out that pertains to your concert, or will you pass out information about Designed by Grace as a whole? Another suggestion for you that I have is to let people become more aware of what you're doing. Maybe for your Public Sphere you can play some music that you guys sing, or have a few of your members sing while passing out information about your choir. Just alert people about your organization, that way they'll be more informed, and aware of what it is that you want to do. Good idea by the way!

  2. Thanks for all your suggestions...some of them i've actually taken into consideration to help me out with my project!! I like the idea of having a few members come and sing while passing out info...that will surely get the attention of a few ppl!
I'm also thrilled to hear that you're a fan of gospel music and that you've actually heard us before...if u ever feel like singing come check us out, who knows u may end up as another addition to the family!!!!

  3. Ha Ha yea that's true. I just might go and join! I'm glad you did take those ideas into consideration. I think your entire plan will go smoothly. Yea, I've been in church all my life, so of course I'm a fan of gospel music!Another suggestion I have for you is that if you do get some of the other members to come and sing, could you have them dress alike? By that I mean could you have them wear the same thing, that way people will know that the group that you're in is organized and professional, and that you are about something.

  4. i think that your proposal for this PSD is very good. more people need to get out and interact with others. its great that you are trying to get a variety of people from all races, ages, and genders to come out to the april 1st spring concert because our campus has many great people and no one to talk to or assoiciate with, so this would be a good way to meet new people :)
